[Tiny Tip] Visual Filters for Tables (Slicers)

Slicers give you clickable buttons to filter your data, which are much faster and cleaner than dropdown filters.

Example

Imagine a table with Category, Product, Sales.
Instead of opening filter menus, just click Food, Clothing, or Electronics to instantly filter everything.

How to Add a Slicer

  1. Click inside your table (data should be formatted as a Table)

  2. Go to Table Design > Insert Slicer

  3. Select the column by which you want to filter (e.g., Category)

  4. Click OK

  5. Move and resize the slicer so it fites nicely within your worksheet

Click a button to filter, or hold Ctrl to select multiple.

Notes

Slicers make your data interactive and easy to explore, which is perfect for reports, dashboards, or quickly showcasing data to others.
