Good day,
Video tutorials are back, releasing on a twice-a-month schedule. This newsletter, however, will still include a new tip within it each week, so make sure to keep checking back for that.
Now, let's make our charts in Excel dynamic and scrollable.
This feature works for single charts as well as big dashboards filled with charts and summary values.

Last Week's Tutorial: Translatable Worksheets
By default, Excel charts ignore data in hidden rows and columns. But sometimes you want to hide the source data on the same worksheet while keeping it visible in your chart.
Here's how!
Step 1: Create Your Chart
Enter this sample data into cells A1:B4:
Month | Sales |
|---|---|
January | 1200 |
February | 1800 |
March | 1500 |
Select the data and go to Insert > Column Chart to create a simple chart.
Step 2: Hide the Source Data
Select columns A and B, right-click, and choose Hide.
Notice that the chart no longer displays the sales data!
Click the chart and go to:
Chart Design > Select Data > Hidden and Empty Cells
Check Show data in hidden rows and columns, then click OK.
That's it! Your chart will continue displaying the sales data even when the source columns are hidden.
Quick Tip
This is especially useful for dashboards where you want to keep the worksheet clean without moving the chart's source data to another sheet.
