Good day,

It's time to get Copilot AI to finally give us useful results in Excel.

This week, I'll show you how to use 2 new features in Excel that make Copilot work a lot better and provide more consistent results.

AI News & More from TeachExcel

I made a new YouTube channel that focuses only on AI related news, updates, and how to's. If you're interested in AI, check it out here.

(This is separate from our main TeachExcel channel and will be commentary heavy.)

[Tiny Tip] How to Access Copilot AI in Excel

Can't find the Copilot button in Excel? Here are the most common things to check.

1. Use Microsoft 365

Copilot only works in the subscription version of Excel included with Microsoft 365.

To check your version, go to:

File > Account

Look for Microsoft 365 under Product Information.

2. Verify Your Subscription

Personal users need a Microsoft 365 subscription that includes Copilot features and AI credits.

Business users may require an eligible Microsoft 365 plan plus an additional Copilot license.

3. Update Excel

If you have Microsoft 365 but don't see Copilot, update Excel:

  1. Open Excel.

  2. Go to File > Account.

  3. Select Update Options > Update Now.

  4. Restart Excel.

4. Check the Home Tab

Open a workbook and look for the Copilot button on the Home tab of the ribbon OR the bottom right of the worksheet.

If it's still missing, verify that:

  • You're signed into the correct Microsoft account.

  • Your subscription includes Copilot access.

  • Excel is fully updated.

Pro Tip

Most "missing Copilot" problems are caused by using a non-Microsoft 365 version of Excel or by not having the latest updates installed.
